Verbal Assassinz

The Verbal Assassinz (a.k.a. VA's), consists of four ambitious rap artists who through hard-work and persistence continues to progress artistically, lyrically, and mentally. The group recently finished up their sophomore effort entitled "Bulls Eye" which is highly anticipated locally, as well as in other markets regionally and nationwide.

In 2002, the VA's released the first song from the group entitled "Gator Chick" which created quite a buzz in the underground market as tens of thousands of spring break goers were exposed to the groups unique sound during a series of performances mostly throughout the Florida panhandle. Dj Scotti C, of the famous spring break club "Club La Vela", in Panama City Beach, Florida quickly recognized the buzz and on several occasions landed the VA's on the main stage of the 7,000 capacity mega club performing full-length shows along side acts such as Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys, The Black Eyed Peas, Ying Yang Twins and a host of others. By the spring of 2003, the group had sold nearly 10,000 copies of the single and were starting to show up on record pool charts scattered throughout the nation.

In January 2005, the VA's released their debut album entitled "Target Practice" which quickly became an underground hit in parts of the southern region. The album boasted songs like "Yall Betta Watch Me (Ooh Wee), Dirty South, and Tears of Pain all of which received a significant amount of air play in the underground market . The release prompted the attention of local newspaper entertainment writers, and several local and regional magazine companies as well. The buzz also caught the attention of Alabama's own Last Mr. Bigg who invited the group on a mini-tour of the southeastern region and gave them the opportunity to perform along side him in front of thousands of new fans. The VA's continued to make the most of every opportunity and eventually sold just over 8,500 units of their debut via mom-and-pops stores, barbershops, shows, and any other median possible.

As stated earlier, the VA's has recently completed their sophomore effort entitled "BullEye". The album includes features from Young Bleed, Rich Boy, Choppa, 3T's own L Boogie, and A.B and several others. The first single entitled "Hate 2 See Me" (featuring "Choppa") is currently receiving spins in several radio stations and club markets scattered around the nation. The single is currently charting in several different record pool charts throughout the nation including a debut at #1 in North Carolina's Starfleet Record Pool's independent chart which was voted #1 record pool last year. The VAs are also planning to shoot their first ever video for the single while getting ready for the release of "BullsEye" which is scheduled to be released spring 08..So Stay tuned!!!!

LEGAL AFFAIRS

Is the

"Poor Man's" copyright

protecting my stuff?

The quick and easy answer to this question is not really.  The poor man’s copyright is a means of mailing one’s work to himself and leaving the package unopened when it is returned.  Most individuals are under the misconception that his work is now protected throughout the world.  The truth of the matter is that your work is only protected to a very small degree under a common law concept.  In order to receive the benefits of legal protection, meaning damages, you as an artist must copyright your material.  Without a legal copyright your work may be used for profit without you receiving a dime.  You would then be in a position of hiring an attorney to get you damages which are going to pale in comparison to those you may receive had your work been copyright protected.  Artist, get yours and get protected.  If you are in the Atlanta, Georgia area, please feel free to email me for an appointment, da_bruthas@yahoo.com attn: Charles, all others simply leave me a line and someone will contact you.  And thanks for watching and reading.
